Sara (SK) Cothren has been painting since 1994. She attended Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon before touring New England on her bicycle and leaving the United States to tour Thailand before living and working in South Korea. Upon her return to the U.S.A. she enrolled in Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Advertising/ Photography in 1995. In 2003, she returned to Adams State College and earned a Master of Arts in English Education. Cothren then taught college, high school and middle school English and Art while constantly pursuing her painting career and travelling. She has studied art and culture in Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, The Netherlands, France, England, and Iceland. Over the past thirteen years, her work has appeared in over twenty-five solo and group exhibitions in Alabama, Colorado, and Australia. Currently, Cothren is a full-time artist with a professional studio on the top floor of the Historic Federal Building in Pueblo, Colorado. She lives with her family in Olney Springs, Colorado.
